Environment (Air Quality and Soundscapes) (Wales) Act 2024

A framework is established allowing long-term emissions targets to be set in Wales. These targets are related to certain pollutants, including:

• Ammonia;

• PM10;

• Ground level ozone;

• Nitrogen dioxide;

• Carbon monoxide; and

• Sulphur dioxide. 

Targets set under this Act will be regularly monitored and reviewed by Welsh Ministers to ensure that they are on track. Local authorities in Wales will also conduct annual air quality reviews, which will include consideration for these pollutants.
