Amends/Commences: The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme Order 2020

Comes into force: 1st January 2024

Jurisdiction: Great Britain

Operators of electricity generators may now retroactively apply for free allocations if they did not anticipate supplying electricity to the grid but subsequently did. 

Electricity generators that produce heat under a CHP Quality Assurance Programme and electricity generators that do not sell electricity to the grid can now apply for free allocations.

Aircraft operators may be required to return allowances that have not been claimed within a scheme year.
