SPC – Statistical Process Control LMR Global - Aerospace Core Tool Training

1 Day Level 1 – Introduction

All of our courses are being held virtually by our expert tutors. Book online below to secure your place.

Held in collaboration with LMR Global - Learn how Statistical Process Control can be used to evaluate process capability and process performance within the Aerospace Industry. This one-day course provides an overview of the aerospace methodology for the use of statistical techniques and  maps out the essential steps for the best use of statistical techniques to evaluate both attribute and variable data.

**Please note that we encourage all our delegates sitting on virtual courses to have access to a webcam. This will enable you to interact with both the tutor and other course attendees.**

We have no public courses scheduled for this course right now, get in touch to find out more about booking an in-house training course, call 0800 052 2424 or email us.

Course aims

What is SPC?

Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a method for gaining an understanding of the types of variation within a process and hence guide actions to either control or reduce this variation. By understanding the types of variation present actions can be taken either to eliminate the variation or reduce its impact. If the variation is excessive the process can be stopped to avoid making nonconforming product.

SPC is frequently used by aerospace manufacturers as part of quality control programs. Application of the SPC methodology can help you to quickly identify when processes are producing results outside their normal variances. This in turn enables organisations to continuously improve product quality, limiting scrap and waste, and hence reduce costs. SPC is often mandated by primary manufacturers as a specific requirement to support the management of critical product or process characteristics.

The course covers the SPC requirements for AS9145 – Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process.

What will I learn?

  • An overview of SPC

  • The fundamentals of process variation

  • How to understand common and special cause variation

  • Charting for variable data

  • Charting for attribute data

  • How to understand control limits and how to calculate them

  • How to identify out of control conditions

  • How to calculate Cp/Cpk and Pp/Ppk

  • To calculate capability

  • The process for the selection of control charts as defined in the Statistical Process Control reference manual

  • The difference between capability and performance and analyse related information

  • Understand the different types of statistical methods used to evaluate performance and capability, using both variable and attribute data

  • How to implement control charts to evaluate process performance and process capability

  • How to identify actions on the process to maintain performance or capability

  • How to understand how to conduct an initial process study for variable data

Is this course right for me?

This course is aimed at:

  • Implementation Teams, Internal Auditors and others who are involved in the auditing or implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC).

  • Anyone involved in verifying new manufacturing processes using AS9145 APQP and PPAP, AS9102 First Article, AS13004 PFMEA and Control Plans, AS13003 MSA and ongoing process control and process improvement.

Prerequisites:

Those attending this course are expected to have knowledge of the following:

  • Familiarity with basic statistical concepts would be helpful but is not a necessary requirement.
